The Child Rights Body Requests Odisha Govt To Conduct Compulsory Covid Testing For All School/College Students

Bhubaneswar: As there has been a vivid instance of covid cased found in succession in various educational institutions in Odisha, the State Commission For Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) on Thursday requested the district collector to take necessary precautionary measures to dissuade the outbreak of the viral cases and secure the protection of students.

The child rights body of Odisha state has proposed the government confirm that every school/ college student should get covid testing done. The government should make proper arrangements for the same and make sure it covers all the students. Covid-19 testing kits facilities should be available for all school/ college students and also the safety protocols of the pandemic has to be followed inside the campuses of all educational institutions.

The OSCPCR has expressed many serious concerns over the prevailing Covid-19 spread particularly on the new variant of the virus, Omicron infections, which is an evident risk to children with the gradual reopening of schools and colleges.

On Friday, State Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra has confirmed that there are no Omicron cases found so far in our state. The state government is completely ready and taking all the precautions for any possible crisis arising due to the outbreak of the Omicron Covid variant. Till now A total number of 1286 foreign returnees have registered their names in Odisha in the Air Suvidha portal, out of them a majority are from Ganjam, Cuttack, Angul & Khordha districts, asserted Mishra.
