Met Issues Yellow Warning: Rainfall In Next Five Days in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The meteorological Centre issues yellow warning in Odisha as different parts of State  are likely to witness rainfall in the next five days.  Met has issued Yellow and Orange warnings for several districts.

In the latest bulletin, Met said that the cyclonic circulation over south Odisha & neighbourhood extending up to 0.9km above mean sea level has become less marked. A cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9km above mean sea level lies over south East Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood. The trough/wind discontinuity from south East Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across Vidharbha, Telengana and Rayalseema extending up to 0.9km above mean sea level.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over south Andaman Sea & neighbourhood a low pressure area has formed over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 4.5km above mean sea level. It is very likely to become more marked over the same region during next 48 hours, concentrate into a depression over Andaman Sea & adjoining south east Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours and likely to intensify further thereafter. It is very likely to move north¬ north westwards gradually till May 5 following which several parts of Odisha will witness light to moderate rain/thundershower.

Day 1 (May 2) – Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Warning: Yellow warning: 1.Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 40-50kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda and Balasore.

  1. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Sundergarh, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh.

Day 2 (May 3)- Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Sundergarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Koraput and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Warning: Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal also hailstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Keonjhar.

Day 3 (May 4)- Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha

                Warning- Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

Day 4 (May 5) – Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Warning- Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak and Nabarangpur.

Day 5 (May 6)- Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha & South Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

Warning- Orange warning: Thunder storm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching upto 40-50kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul and hailstorm likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur over the rest districts of Odisha.
