Sargun Mehta, a big name in today’s time in the Panjabi film industry talks about the position, struggle and revival of the actors from different generations. The actors , who were stars earlier in the 90s , were starting to fade away from the industries with time. Especially the female actors who have a time barrier, age barrier including other stereotypical factors are grabbing suitable opportunities to play meaty parts in the second innings of their career.

Television actors are looked down upon and often rejected for having worked in television. They say the actors in television are overexposed, so there is no newness to offer. At the same time, the parameters set for the look of the heroine, female leads that the heroine should look in a certain way is extremely harsh and stereotypical. Many times the physique, and looks, of the actors and actresses are scrutinized so much that, the talent goes sidelined.

When an aspiring actor comes to Mumbai thinking of achieving big, cone with this example that any far-off or big actor like Shahrukh Khan, who has reached a stature starting from the ground. When we hear a common story or share a common dream like a huge personality we get inspired by that person. When a person goes through a low phase the thought of those inspirational stories helps to uplift their self-esteem.

Social media is a tool or a platform to stay relevant, to reach the audience, to increase the marketing for any big celebrity or movie. It is well known that the longevity of the male actors has no time limit whereas the female actors are age-bound. The career graph of the heroines slowly goes down after 30-40  years of age. But in today’s time, the era of OTT, and web series has brought back the talents, the actors who were losing their space, earlier now getting work, and opportunities to showcase their shades of talent. They are not bound by their age, body type, time and stereotypes. Many of the powerhouse talents have got their dues from the OTT platform. There is a quality that differentiates the web from movies that here there is no frame set for the looks, physical appearance of an actor, or age. OTT as a platform is very liberal in terms of looks but it only welcomes the talent.
