Odisha Heads for Inclusive Economic Development with the Expansion of ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Scheme 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has gone up to the second position all around the country having more than 9.36 lakh women earning above Rs 1 lakh annually through ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme by the state government. This is one of its kind initiatives in the direction of women’s economic empowerment. This initiative is leading the rural women through a transforming economic growth for the rural women, providing them with skills, resources, and opportunities to achieve financial independence.

‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme aims to empower women through entrepreneurship schemes, providing skills for managing finance, and offering market linkages. This is an initiative reflective of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the women economically independent, so that the women who constitute half the population of the nation can contribute to the process of nation building. 

The state government along with other organizations like Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM) has been doing an excellent job by supporting these women entrepreneurs by providing training, financial support and market linkages.

The initiative was exposed to an official and professional platform showcasing the talents, skills and products of the women entrepreneurs at the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Bhubaneswar conducted lately. The women entrepreneurs garnered about Rs 5 crore by selling their product.

With the help of digital platforms and certifications for wider market linkages, the initiative uplifts women financially and fosters societal revolution.

Odisha heads for inclusive growth by incorporating women in the economic development through the Lakhpati Didi initiative and it becomes a beacon for transformative change nationwide.
