Odisha Has Touched Peak of the Third Wave, Says Top Health Official

Bhubaneswar: The detection of everyday covid cases in the State is gradually touching 5,901 and eight fatalities, with these figures the total positive rates are going up to 12,31,169 and the death toll to 8,550.

As the state is registering a downward mode in the day-to-day count of Covid-19 cases from a week, Dr Niranjan Mishra, the State’s Public Health Director, has stated on Thursday that the State has reached the peak of the current third wave of the pandemic.

During a media interaction, Mishra said, “The State is continuously reporting less number of cases. Around 5000-7000 new cases are getting registered on an everyday basis. So evidently both cases are reported daily and a total number of active cases are on a downhill mode. ”

Even though it can be speculated that Odisha has touched its peaks in the third wave of Covid-19, there are other countries that have already witnessed fourth and fifth waves.
Therefore, it is difficult to predict the peak and its exact duration.

Mishra again said, “though the transmissibility of this new variant Omicron is excessively high, so it is tough to foresee when specifically the cases will soar and recede. Therefore, people should always be alert and take requisite measures. Until every day reported cases to come down to the bottom line, it is necessary to scrutinize the situation with utmost seriousness.”

Meanwhile, health experts and scientists of the opinion that the constant decline in the covid-19 cases is the indication that the State has already hit the peak and the graph is in a flats state at present.
