Hostels for Students of Classes X & XII in Odisha are Ready to Reopen From July 26

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday has made an announcement to reopen hostels for Classes X and XII students from July 26 under its various departments.

In consideration to COVID-19, the School and Mass Education Department has issued a notification phrasing a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the reopening of the hostels.

According to the notification, the hostels run by the authorities like School and Mass Education department, the ST & SC Development department, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare department, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities department will be reopened.

Other than that, as per the notification, the English medium school hostels operated by the private agencies are allowed to reopen as well.

It is worth mentioning that the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Dr Balram Bhargava on July 20 has allowed the primary schools (Classes I to V) to reopen percepting that younger children have much better ability to handle the virus than the adults. He has also suggested that the primary schools should be opened before students of Classes IX-XII resume their school.
