Bihar: A State to be Proud of 

Bhubaneswar: Bihar is the state where we see the world ‘s oldest university ( Nalanda University),  world’s oldest Hindu temple, the highest and longest monument ( Kesariya Buddhist Monument), the longest wi-fi zone ( 20 KM), the oldest highway ( 2400 KM). Four out of ten biggest bridges in India are in Bihar. Bihar is the state which gives the second highest number of civil servants to the country after UP. Two major religions in the world, Buddhism and Jainism originated from this land. This state is the birthplace of Brahmagupta, who gave us the number zero and the first president of India, Rajendra Prasad. The 10th or the last Guru of Sikh community, Guru Govind Singh, was also born in Bihar. 

Bihar was the land of great empires in ancient times. It is the golden state in Indian history. The greatest empires like Mauryan Empire, Gupta Empire, Pal Empire, the heroes like Chandraagupta Maurya,Samudra Gupta, Chanakya jail from this land. Vikramshila University where occult, science, religion and philosophy were taught and known as the renowned Buddhist university. Samrat Ashok,  warrior, empireror was from Bihar. 

Talking about health and food which the world is concerned about, Bihar is the state that produces the highest quantity of makhanas, a cereal that is in demand around the globe and exported from Bihar as well. One of the most delicious and juicy seasonal fruits, Lichi, is produced the highest from Bihar. 

The rich culture and heritage of Bihar is not hidden from anyone, the Madhubani painting, the cultural amalgamation of Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Tiruhat and Aurang  are adored all across the country. 

Gautam Buddha had got enlightenment from Bihar’s Bodhgaya. Mahaveer Swami, Jainism, was born in Vaishali in Bihar. Mahatma Gandhi had started his Satyagraha, freedom movement from Bihar’s Champaran. Jay Prakash Narayan from Bihar was the tallest political leader who turned the strong and powerful government of the first woman Prime Minister of India, Ms Indira Gandhi. 

Now it is a notion that Bihar state is an epitome of backwardness. If it is excluded from the country, the country will be called developed. Before judging the whole state on the basis of a handful of people, we need to remember its heroic past, history, rich culture, contribution to the country’s economy, etc. Bihar is present in politics, Bollywood, education, literature, agriculture, economy and so on. Every Bihari is proud of its ethnicity and the whole country should feel the same way.
